How to use these worksheets
Think addition
Every subtraction fact has a matching addition fact. 13 − 5 = 8 because 8 + 5 = 13, so students can check every answer by adding.
Regrouping in steps
Start with the no-regrouping sheets, then problems that regroup once, then subtracting across zeros, which needs two regroups in a row.
Bigger number on top
The most common error is subtracting the smaller digit from the larger one in each column, whichever is on top. Ask students to check the top digit first.
