Part A: In order Divide. Think of the matching multiplication fact.
- 6 ÷ 6 = 1
- 12 ÷ 6 = 2
- 18 ÷ 6 = 3
- 24 ÷ 6 = 4
- 30 ÷ 6 = 5
- 36 ÷ 6 = 6
- 42 ÷ 6 = 7
- 48 ÷ 6 = 8
- 54 ÷ 6 = 9
- 60 ÷ 6 = 10
- 66 ÷ 6 = 11
- 72 ÷ 6 = 12
Part B: Mixed up Divide.
- 24 ÷ 6 = 4
- 66 ÷ 6 = 11
- 60 ÷ 6 = 10
- 42 ÷ 6 = 7
- 6 ÷ 6 = 1
- 54 ÷ 6 = 9
- 12 ÷ 6 = 2
- 30 ÷ 6 = 5
- 36 ÷ 6 = 6
- 18 ÷ 6 = 3
- 72 ÷ 6 = 12
- 48 ÷ 6 = 8
Part C: Missing number Write the number that makes each fact true.
- 36 ÷ 6 = 6
- 30 ÷ 6 = 5
- 54 ÷ 6 = 9
- 18 ÷ 6 = 3
- 24 ÷ 6 = 4
- 60 ÷ 6 = 10
Tips for teachers and parents
- Halve, then divide by 3. For 48 ÷ 6, half of 48 is 24, and 24 ÷ 3 is 8.
- Recall the 6s facts directly once they are known: 6 × 7 = 42, so 42 ÷ 6 = 7.
- Every dividend on this sheet is even and in the 3 times table. A dividend that fails either test is not a 6s fact.
- Practice the close pairs side by side: 42 ÷ 6 = 7 and 48 ÷ 6 = 8.
Common mistakes
- Answering 54 ÷ 6 = 8 or 48 ÷ 6 = 9. Multiply back with the 6 times table to check.
- Halving and stopping, so 36 ÷ 6 becomes 18. The strategy has two steps; write them both down.
What to practice next
Try dividing by 7 next, or the mixed division facts review to keep the earlier divisors fresh.
